    hi guys, im sad to say that im going to have too sell my mini in the upcoming months as i wont be able to afford the insurance on it when i pass my test (£3600:!: ) i was just wondering what u guys think the value of my mini could be, here is some info;

    1992 rover mini cooper 1.3i,
    1 years MOT,
    59,000 miles ish
    Subframes and sills are A1,
all the welding i have had done which needed doing.
New front valance and rear valance put on 3 months ago,
    12" cooper wheels,
    K&N air filter,
    Chrome rocker cover,
    twin center exit exhaust.

the mini has no radio or speakers but has all the wiring for it, its just case of getting one and fitting it.

the interior is clean with black cooper seats

the body work in a real world could do with a respray but looks okish, just has a few little rust scabs in the usual places.

Here are some pics on my facebook: https://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2042222&id=1101317476&ref=mf

i think thats about it, plz could you give me ur feedback on wot u think?

    many thanks jimmy

Hard to say as it won't let me view the link but from what you say in your post with what work has been done on it plus with the good mileage on it I would think it should be worth between £2000-£3000

But if I was you I would keep it and buy a cheap little run around till you get some no claims bonus
my first years insurance on a metro clubman 1.0l cost me £1200 when I was 20... When I got my mini 2 years later my insurane on my Morris mini 1000 was only £600... It's only £300 a year now Smile

but yeah, try and keep hold of her, you will regret it if you sell her Sad

Try Lancaster insurance ... They don't appear on those sites... Should get a pretty good deal
or get the car registered in a family members name and become a 2nd driver on the policy Smile

Ouch and I thought my first years insurance was expencive ... Also have you thought about doing "pass+" that saved me a few hundred on my first year...
But there must be a way to get insured for a sensible price :p

Yeah do Pass+ and buy an old metro as a run about that's what I did Smile plus if you get an old metro, it should have the same engine and gearbox as the mini so would feel the same to a certain extent Smile (in the end I had a 1275 cooper engine fitted in my metro)

try the ones advertised in mini world, i went with HIC, because my car is over 15years old its able to also be on a classic policy, also bear in mind how many miles you are likely to do a year as you could have a limited milage policy.

Basically i tried the AA and they came up with 270ish, then they passed me onto their classic team and they quoted 304 quid.

i went on to HIC and they quoted £120 so i went with them i also payed the extra 12 quid to have an agreed valuation which means if some prat writes it off i get what i think its worth they agreed 2k.

also Adrian flux are ment to be good. shop around and ask them if they would also give you a discount as you are in a car club some do if you ask

i forgot to add go 3rd party for a couple of years to get your no claims bonus up, just don't hit anything because it wont cover damage you do to your car.

Katie and I were discussing this the other day actually.
Have you thought about selling it and getting a different type of mini? They always bump the price up on a cooper, god knows why.
Maybe get something like a 1275 mayfair cause it'll be much cheaper but pretty much the same car.

or like the others said get a cheap run around for a while until you get your no claims up.
You brought it for fairly cheap though didn't you?? so if you can sell it for £2000/£3000 thats a faily decent profit!

ah and defo go for third party insurance, it's soo much cheaper.

As been said try all the adverts in the back of mini world, i managed to get mine down from £2,800 to £2,300 with a £100 excess, It's annoying I can't get a classic policy as my minis is only 12 years old.

You could always try i-kube but they fit a tracker to your car which means you can't drive it between 11:00pm and 5:00am, if you do they know and they will charge you £45 for that night but I think I got quoted £700 ish fully comp with pass plus, but you do have the restrictions on the times you can drive.
