    Door Locks Empty Door Locks

Post  HeatherMaude Mon May 03, 2010 1:05 pm

I don't suppose anyone is any good at fixing locks are they??
My drivers door, for some reason doesn't lock properly. I normally have to climb in the passenger door and lock it from the inside which is a real pain in the ass sometimes.

I think the previous owner took them off when respraying the door and fucked it up putting it back on.

For one thing it (used to) lock with the key to the right instead of upright like other cars, so I know somethings not right with it.
Any ideas what I can do with it? Really don't fancy taking it apart myself (nor do I trust Ashley to do it tongue ) and I really don't want to have to buy new locks!

turn the key to the right then back up so it's upright when you pull the key out??
Or do you pull the key out when it's turned to the right?

I'm comparing mine to ashley's by the way. His turns to the right but the key comes out when it's upright, whereas mine they key comes out when it's facing right....

if that makes any sense at all?!?

if it stays closed then its fine lol.... key goes in upside down and turns right to lock!! .. and when mines locked my lock thing inside the drivers door sits in the middle too not to the right like the passanger door does.. but mine works ok.. sometimes i have to lock, unlock then lock again to get it to work coz ive locked mine before and then managed to open the door even tho i locked it coz the mechinism gets a bit dry and is naff.
Id be gratefull thats all thats wrong with your mini LOL

I'm getting a little confused. haha.

But yeah, it used to lock with the key to the right, which I always thought was a bit strange.
For some reason now it refuses to lock at all Crying or Very sad

Mine did that for a bit too, only sitting in the middle but now it doesn't even move unless i force it.

I'm going to have to take it apart aren't I?

Yeaha it's only a tiny thing I know but kinda annoying and not particularly safe pale

i had this not too long ago, what i found was it was the arm of the door handle (The bit that moves when the key is turned) had come unclipped from the little rod on the locking mech. So the key turns but has no effect on the locking. i simply took the door card off and clipped it back on. It just pushes on.

if that dosent make sense it becomes relitivly obvious when the door card is off. (i hope Neutral )

Ok thanks. Will try that. Taking the door card out is much simpler than trying to take the lock off. Razz
