Project bucket.. the not so silver beast

Post  Danjazzle on Sun Apr 04, 2010 5:37 pm

Thought i may as well let you know my eventual plans for the bucket:

Top of the list is obviously the Astonishingly shite paint work an rust, so...
As ive discovered 'roller painting' is dirt cheap an for a little effort will look awsome for a fraction of the price of a proper respray.. especially if its only gunna rust again..therefore the name... 'bucket'
so plan on giving it a repaint in a strong light blue! with gloss black bonnet roof an arches and maybe boot lid.
Matte black wheels.. (re spray or powder coat the shitty old ones)

    CURRENTLY HAS:
A well worn in 998cc with skimmed head, all ports and manifold polished
    Maniflow LCB manifold
    Sportex Rally exhaust (single box)
    Electronic Lucas Distributor
Fancy spark plug leads and NGK plugs
    K&N arifilter.. hissy hisss
Bald yoko and pirelli tyres on Minilite 7x13 rims
    Surestop brakes with mintex pads
Various other bits n bobs like bonnet pins and the front bumper lip removed.

    THE PLAN:
Still lookin for a donor engine either 998 or a lovely 1275
strip it down.. polish all the ports out, skim the block an head to buggery
Drop in a fast road cam... tempted to go for rally cam but may be a bit excessive and pointless
Add on some 1.5 rockers and the 1.3/4'' carb for good measure
Would like to change the final drive but not really looked into it yet..

Then youve got the suspension and so on:
Basically i want GAZ adjustables and adjustable cones to go with!
And various other crud but in sure itll be a few more years before i even achive this lot Smile

Nice sounding project you can have a 998cc engine for £50 just to make the list that bit smaller.
