    Project Jack.......again Empty Project Jack.......again

Post  mrsbean Mon Mar 29, 2010 1:01 pm

As you all know I have an on-going argument with my insurance company after Jack was broken into last year and he is back at the garage now awaiting whatever they will do to him.

So project Jack (2) is by no means going to be a show winner (have not got the money) but I am hoping to do the following.....

re-style engine bay....decided to keep this engine till its dead
underseal and de-rust sills and underneath
Grey carpet and re-trim the door cards with the original ones
    Re-furbish the wheels
Stop the sunroof leaking (any ideas???!!)
New dash and actually fit the guages.

    any other suggestions welcome.

my first mini developed a leak with the sunroof, was always fine until i went round a left hand bend then i got wet. Sad

I was told you can get a product that helps reseal it, sorry though i wasnt paying attention so im not sure what it is, maybe halfords does something for it?

I FOUND THAT SILICONE SEALANT IS HIGHLY EFFECTIVE ON LEAKY WINDSCREEN, AND HIGHLY HILARIOUS TO USE AND GET RID OF EXCESS Rolling Eyes

Yes silicone is currently smeared all around my sunroof as is vaseline.....Steve thats what I thought, but then thought about the arse of a job smoothing it and respraying it again and i am not too happy at the prospect of fitting another headlinging....it was a pain!!

I did look into a roof panel and that is something I will concider when Jack has his next full re-build....if not a new shell.....(hum in another 25 years Jack will be as bad as triggers broom!!!)

Well got Jaxck back again on Tuesday and all looked ok, but after closer inspection I now have 3 different Silvers on him......gutted and so annoyed.....the assessor is coming back out as the decals are not on straight either. They also decided to power wash him, inflicting damage to the already lifting paintowrk on the other side....

I am now either going to demand a full respray before L2B or my excess returned to me plus compensation....so fed up with it and fed up with not having my mini looking right.

On the plus side.....Robert fitted my new dash (dial not yet woirking due to Jacks interesting electrical gremlins!)
The remote start/stop seems to work again.....and I sprayed some silver metalic flecky stuff on my air filter box, fuse cover and wiper cover as I am starting to play about with tidying under the bonnet....
